I know whether he keeps or fires Callahan he will show more wisdom than Pederson did who overestimated the value of the NUjob when he fired Solich.Firing a 10-3 coach did not create a run of applicants craving to lead the Huskers and we ended up with a recently fired coach that no one of significance wanted to lead their program. Tom, if he fires Callahan, will almost certainly do better than that. I have a job to do. It's being planned to name Coach Watson as interim head coach, and that there are older coaches watching game films with some of the current coaches to formulate a plan for this weekend. Coincides with what Doug posted a minute ago with some coaches being let go. It was confirmed though that SP is/will be fired, and TO will be the new AD for now." This is from some forum somewhere, supposedly from a player on the team. I also know a guy who knows a guy who knows a player on the team, and he said... Here's mine: 1. Dr. Tom comes in on a 24-48 month contract to right the ship and groom a predecessor. 2. Turner Gill is hired away from Buffalo (did I really just write that?) as the new head coach of the Huskers. 3. Gill hires a staff that is composed of mostly old program guys that know what Nebraska football is/should be. I'm not just talking offensive schemes, I mean work ethic, character, etc. etc. 4. We have a losing season in year one, but the fans are still on board because they actually believe in the direction of the program. 5. Before long (3 years?) we return to being competitive, not because we recruit 4-stars from the JUCO ranks but because we recruit kids that we can develop (a novel idea...).
